Message from the President October 2024

Greetings, neighbors.

An email which was sent today by an Association member to select members of the community has been brought to the attention of the Board.

Regarding the Lot Recovery Program, questions were brought to the attention of the Board, mostly related to titling of some properties, and the payment of dues. It is our responsibility as your Board to investigate such matters, and our responsibility to get professionals to guide us; the Board had a unanimous vote to ask attorneys to look over the Lot Recovery Program (LRP).

I then met personally with members who are part of the LRP who had questions and concerns about this process. I explained that the attorneys needed one month to review the program and would return with a report to the Board, and then to the membership.

It has repeatedly been made clear that the Board has no LRP agenda — other than to serve the Association — and therefore no decisions should be assumed about the LRP, because we are waiting to be informed by the report.

As for the concern regarding the good standing of one of our neighbors, this Board made the — again, unanimous — decision to honor a vote made by a past Board from a decade ago. Though the vote had passed in 2010, previous boards neglected to implement the resolution. This Board simply did what was correct and required of us.

Message from the President July 2024

Hello, neighbors! I am pleased to again be able to serve our community as President, and resume these messages to give you a quick recap of what your Board has been working on.

— For now, the Lot Recovery Program is tabled while we consider the best legal method to handle these properties.

— We have asked our attorneys for a list of all their cases in order to review them and get a better idea of which ones might be resolved, and which need to continue through the court system.

— We will be freshening up the red paint in the cul-de-sacs, but not across driveways. Because past Board members went to Urban Planning to initiate the request for red paint zones, we now run the risk of fines if we do not maintain these areas.

— We are in the final steps of closing the sale of Mission San Diego 1023, recovering $45,000 in dues owed.

— A faulty hot water heater was replaced for the showers at the Mission San Diego pool.

Classes in the Clubhouse

— Spanish classes have concluded for the summer.

— Deep Stretch Yoga and Chair Yoga classes are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Please contact the office if you are interested in joining any of these classes, or starting one of your own.

The community enjoyed a festive and fun July 4 celebration on a beautiful afternoon at the Whale Watch Pavilion. The golf cart parade included friends from different neighborhoods, and we enjoyed a perfect summer meal of hamburgers, fries and ice cream. Miguel Reyes provided the music for dancing.

The July Board meeting is on Friday, July 19, at 3:00 p.m. in the Clubhouse. If you would like to share something with the Board, please arrive early to request one of the Open Forum spaces.

Our quarterly Homeowners Meeting follows on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Clubhouse. We’re trying something new — Coffee and Donuts with the Board — and we hope you will join us!

See you around the neighborhood!
